...when there is so much to see!

Italy is a breathtaking country with so much to offer!

I literally feel like I could spend the rest of my life there and still not see everything!

From Milan, Lake Como and Venice, the natural beauty of Tuscany, with Florence and so many little neighboring towns, to magical Rome, and the south with Naples, the Amalfi Coast and over to Puglia on the Adriatic side…wow the list goes on and on.

Add in Sicily and Sardinia, and it would literally take months and months to explore the glorious magnificence that is Italy!

A main reason I want to live there, is so I can make my way around and really see all that I want to see.

Each region has its own special cuisine, famous monuments and even dialects!

Every time I visit I spend about 2 weeks…and I feel like I barely scratch the surface.

I also tend to go back to my favorite places because I love them so much…

So it’s a constant struggle between where I long to go back to, and where I still can’t wait to see for the first time!

This leads me to my point…

How do you decide what to do and where to visit if you’re traveling to Italy?

Whether it’s your first time, or it’s your home away from home, like it is for me 😅

Here are five tips on how to plan your Italy trip ~

  1. Brainstorm the top places you want to see…list all of them. Then narrow it down to the absolute MUST visit list.
  2. Do some research of the places on your list… how close are they to each other? Do you need to fly to any of the locations? Or are trains and ferries doable in reasonable time?
  3. How many days do you need in each place? Are you someone who doesn’t mind moving around a lot, packing and unpacking, or do you enjoy to linger a bit longer in one place and not feel rushed?
  4. What time of year will you be there? If it’s the summer consider how hot it may be in the cities or the middle of Tuscany, or if it’s late November or early spring it may be cool or rainy in the islands or by the coast.
  5. What kind of activities do you prefer? Are wine tastings your thing? Are you a history buff or do you love art? Are you a nature person and want to hike, swim, bike or even ride horses? Do you love to spend hours walking?

Consider all of these things when planning your trip. Italy has SO much to offer.

Decide on the regions, cities and towns, the ability and time needed to travel between, specific things you want to do or see, what season it will be and the weather…

Then go from there.

It really would take a lifetime to fully enjoy all of the amazingness of bella Italia.

That’s why Giuseppe Verdi said it best…

“You may have the universe if I may have Italy.”

This has become my motto…

Once you fall in love with Italy, it will be yours, too!
