The Lure of Italy
What am I looking forward to the most about being back in Italy? I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t counting the days until I’m back in bella Italia.
What am I looking forward to the most about being back in Italy?
I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t counting the days until I’m back in bella Italia.
It’s taking every ounce of patience to calmly wait until my flight in September takes me back to my favorite place in the world.
Especially as a yoga instructor, I talk about being in the now.
Appreciating every single moment with gratitude and not rushing life by.
This is how I feel when I’m in Italy…and why I love the Italian lifestyle so much.
That’s why my struggle to stay present and enjoy summer in Los Angeles is so ironic.
I love teaching yoga, my students, and, of course, the park walks and snuggles with my beautiful fur baby Lola…who I miss more than anything while away.
Yet I still long for my life in Rome…
My morning cappuccino and cornetto, meandering walks through cobblestone streets, sipping espresso throughout the day, lunches with wine, aperitivo with friends and strolling through Piazza Navona with a gelato, mesmerized by the magnificence.
Even though I’ve walked through there countless times, it never gets old.
Listening to Italian in the streets, and at cafes, the “ciao Bella” over and over again always make me smile and blush.
The slow pace, but chaos at the same time, in the center of Rome, with the mopeds speeding by, the honking horns, and Italians yelling at each other passionately.
The street musicians in front of Castel Sant’Angelo playing Pink Floyd.
The simple beauty of the incredible colors and the way the afternoon light hits the buildings.
The terraces and rooftops with the most glorious views.
Thinking of all the history and who has walked the same streets and looked at the same views for centuries.
It’s magical beyond words.
And as much as I love my life here in LA…
Italy always tugs at my heart.
Just 34 more days until I'm eating a plate full of pasta pomodoro with a big smile on my face...
