How to Keep Your New Years Resolutions After January
Allow every new day to be an opportunity to set intentions and make changes in your life that support your growth.
My first holiday season living in Rome was beyond magical…full of lights, friends, fun events, and roasted chestnuts!
On New Year’s Eve I watched fireworks light up the sky over Campo Dei Fiori from a rooftop terrace.
What an incredible way to begin 2025.
January has always been one of my favorite months of the whole year.
It’s a fresh clean slate...a blank canvas to fill up with amazing things.
It’s easy to find motivation when the year has just started.
But as the days pass, and we’re now nearing February, how do we keep that momentum going? How do we maintain the energy and excitement we initially felt to bring our desires to fruition?
Allow every new day to be an opportunity to set intentions and make changes in your life that support your growth.
When you slow down, and let go of all the “to-dos” of life, you can actually see each day as this same new beginning.
Simple mindset shifts, taking moments to pause, being still, connecting with your inner knowing, is all it takes to create more peace and joy in your life, no matter what is happening around you. Let each day be a fresh start for productivity.
Ask yourself these questions every morning~
How can I bring more joy into my day? How can I take better care of myself? How can I love myself more? What can I release from my mind that is causing me stress? What is one thing I can do today that will bring me closer to my goals and dreams?
We all have the possibility to create a fabulous life that we love. It’s the small steps and mindset shifts that add up to the bigger changes.
Instead of setting overwhelming New Year’s resolutions that are often forgotten about after January, set daily intentions that are stepping stones to your bigger goals.
For example, if you want to lose weight, focus on the actions you can cultivate in your lifestyle that are smaller changes. This could be to create a doable exercise schedule. Choose more whole, unprocessed foods. Add more fruit and vegetables to your meals rather than doing an extreme fad diet that is too hard and stressful to maintain. Drink more water. Go for more walks.
Simple, manageable steps that feel good.
Also, the more joy you feel everyday naturally increases productivity. When you begin each morning doing something you love, such as sitting with your coffee in stillness, or taking a walk in a beautiful place, you build a solid foundation. These are simple things that set up your day from a positive mindset.
We create our lives.
We are in control of how we feel.
Even if external circumstances may not be the best at the moment, we still maintain the sovereignty to be present, and shift our perspective. To focus on gratitude for what we do have that brings us joy.
No one has a perfect life. Being a human in this world we all experience struggle, sadness, anger, hardship and frustration. These are the ebbs-and-flows of life. The darkness and the light.
But without the bad, the good isn’t nearly as sweet! Seeing everything as a way to learn, to grow, to build strength and resilience makes life more fulfilling.
It builds a colorful canvas of texture and richness. One that is so much more interesting to look at.
I invite you starting now, to take time to be still, present with yourself, your emotions, what you’re grateful for, what you truly love in your life, and what brings you joy. Feel these things deeply, and use them to make mindful decisions each day as a form of true self-care.
Then from this place, take small daily action steps towards those bigger intentions and goals. Also, remember that each day is different. Some days you may be extra motivated and productive, while others may not be, and that's okay! Find patience and compassion with yourself. This is just as important, if not more.
Focus on moments of joy, peace, and what lights you up. This is what will keep you going on the path to your goals, long after January ends!
We all deserve a life we can't wait to wake up to each day.
Con tanto amore,
Jenny
