Ferragosto - The Favorite Summer Holiday in Italy
Ferragosto is a holiday in Italy celebrating summer and vacation! Its roots go way back to the Emperor Augustus in ancient Roman times!
Italians really know how to live life... #Italiansdoitbest
Summer in Italy is heavenly….
Have you been? If you have, then you already know exactly what I mean.
Swimming in the sea, spending time at the beautiful parks, strolling through a Piazza, sitting outside for an aperitivo at sunset overlooking the water or the rooftops of Rome…
It really doesn’t get any better.
Ferragosto is a holiday in Italy celebrating summer and vacation! Its roots go way back to the Emperor Augustus in ancient Roman times!
Rather than just taking a week or 2 off a year, like in the US…
Italy takes most of August off. Many businesses shut down, and those living in the hot, busy cities make their way to the sea, the mountains, and the lakes, to be in nature, slow down, and take time for themselves.
August 15th is the culmination of this! It’s the day to celebrate summer!
Ferragosto is about being with family, friends, getting outside, swimming, lounging…
Finding "il dolce far niente"…the sweetness of doing nothing.
Which is my most favorite motto and what I strive to live by.
It’s a time to focus on enjoying summer with family and friends. Taking time off work and daily to-dos, to be present and have fun!
It’s pure self-care and R&R…Italian style, which always takes it up a notch!
Wellness comes in many forms, and taking the time to purely enjoy life is the most important part!
This is also why I love Italy so much. The lifestyle and what matters most. It's the simple pleasures that make life so beautiful!
Try to take some Ferragosto energy into every day living.
Focus on a few precious moments each day, to get outside, do something you love, slow down, and just be present in the beauty and the simplicity of life.
These moments add up and really help you appreciate what matters most to you.
Buon ferragosto a tutti!
Con tanto amore e sole!
